Indian Army Should Go for RCCEP

Image
Indian Army should go for RCCEP or Remote-Controlled Casualty Evacuation Platform. This remote-controlled platform is an excellent way to rescue an injured soldier from the battlefield. Normally for casualty evacuation in a battlefield, it takes 2 soldiers to carry the injured soldier, at least 1 helper, and many times at least 2 armed soldiers to protect the evacuation effort and to ensure that the injured soldier is safely out of the battle zone. Using this battery-powered remote-controlled platform, it will be way easier to rescue an injured soldier from a battlefield, where evacuation may be stuck or delayed due to intense gun/artillery fire assault, so much so that an injured soldier may even succumb to injury due to lack of proper medical attention, as it may be difficult to spare soldiers to carry injured soldiers to safety or even provide them security. On the other, if an injured soldier is laid and strapped on the RCCEP or Remote-Controlled Casualty Evacuation Pla

Can India Use YF-23 as the Base for its 6th Generation Aircraft?

Image
YF 23 Black Widow As the world moves forward in aircraft technology, it is developing one generation of aircraft after another and even as one generation is being mass-produced, planning for the next generation has moved forward from paper to prototype. USA was the torch bearer in 5th generation aircraft when it came out with F 22 Raptor in 1997. F 22 Raptor by Lockheed Martin and Boeing, General Dynamics defeated Northrop Grumman and McDonnell Douglas YF 23 Black Widow in ATF competition, but it was expensive. So much so that after 189 units it was decided by US DoD that a much cheaper option was needed, thus came put the F 35 in 2010 and today it is the only mass-produced 5th generation aircraft. As more numbers are built, the cost of production and per unit cost as well as the cost per hour flight of F 35 is slated to go down even more from the current rate. The complexities with 5th generation aircraft were such that Europe actually gave it a miss; Russia is still struggl

Single Hull Vs Double Hull Submarine, The Debate Continues

Image
Submarines can be divided into 2 classes by construction, these are single hulls and double hulls. The single-hull submarines have only one layer of steel between the crew and open ocean while the double Hull has an external outer hull that completely encases the inner hull. The relative merits and demerits of these two submarine construction approaches are still hotly debated. The German XXI SSK submarine during the World War 2 was the first submarine that had its entire hull encased inside. Some countries (mostly Western) build single-hull submarines while others (mainly Russia and China) build double-hull submarines. Planners and Naval Architects have their own reasons, and may not agree on the relative trade-offs. Double-hulled submarines are a lot larger on the outside than they are on the inside, so it is not possible to estimate displacement without factoring in this variable. From there we can start to deduce
