Common Sense Dictates – Some Simple Ideas to Boost Defense Preparedness

Image
There are a few commonsensical ideas that we in India can make to match up with the shortfall in defense preparedness. But one question remains, how long IA, IAF, and IN will make do with a 'jugaad'. The last one is not fully my own idea though. 😊 😊 but still read on.                            1. Don’t Make Just 2 Frigates @ Goa Shipyard Ltd Common sense dictates that it will be a foolish idea for India to build 2 Grigorivich-class frigates at Goa, why the reasons are listed below:-   a.   It takes 4 ships to be built to amortize the investment in manufacturing a certain class of ship under naval requirement as per normal practice, remember for civilian ships it’s a different parameter. So, it will require spending taxpayers' money, to gain experience, training of staff, and infrastructure setup. But to build just 2 ships is a sheer waste of taxpayers' money, time, and investment. Also, the fact that Goa Shi

Countering China Through Radiowaves with All India Radio

Image
As China ups the ante all across the LAC, it's high time India takes steps to counter the Chinese dragon. India has started using all within its power to pressurize China, as the Ladakh standoff continues to drag on, and tensions are rising in the Bhutan, India, and China Occupied Tibet trijunction overlooking Siliguri Corridor in West Bengal and even Arunachal Pradesh. While India has banned dozens of Chinese apps on account of security issues, there are other steps being taken to counter the Chinese narrative. India, in order to counter the Chinese narrative, has in the past couple of years decided to boost radio transmission of its Chinese Mandarin language radio programs, through All India Radio targeting mainly Han Chinese living in central and coastal China. It was 3 to 4 times a week for a 90-minute program. But now plans have been set to start daily programs in Mandarin, so as to allow more and more Chinese citizens to know what people in other countries think about the

After AUKUS Deal How Many SSNs Will Indian Navy Need Afterall

Image
AUKUS Deal France and Australia were about to sign a US$ 65 billion (AU$ 90 billion) deal to build 12 conventional AIP-powered versions of Barracuda SSN called ‘Shortfin’ Barracuda. The deal which was in the making for the last 6-7 years, was so important for France and believed it had the RAN/Royal Australian Navy deal in its pocket that it reportedly let many smaller but significantly numerous contracts.  Aussie PM who was reportedly directly in touch with the French president on the deal and supported the deal. But suddenly either in late 2019 or early 2020 he started to have second thoughts on the deal, and asked high powered team comprising of RAN experts and men from several ministries, and financial; experts to look for alternatives. They after much deliberations concluded there was no point in going for a conventional AIP-powered submarine that operates only a few hundred miles off the coastline when the need was to patrol and guard vast stretches of deep ocean perhaps

Megatone Nukes – Do We Really Need Them When We Have Precesion Non Nuke Ones

Image
What is a megaton nuke bomb, it is   a nuclear weapon with an explosive power equivalent to one million tons of TNT.  The largest nuke ever tested was  Tsar Bomba , a thermonuclear bomb developed by the Soviet Union. The bomb exploded over an island in the Arctic region and was originally designed to have a yield of about 100 megatons of TNT however, however, the bomb yield was reduced to 50 megatons in order to reduce nuclear fallout. In comparison, the  Little Boy  dropped on  Hiroshima  and  Fat Man  dropped on  Nagasaki  had a yield of just 15 and 21 kilotons respectively.  It may be known that a megaton nuclear weapon when exploded in an attack will create a blast pressure spread out over a larger area. Unlike fission devices, fusion devices or thermonuclear bombs produce 50-million-degree fireballs. Within 10 seconds the fireball grows to 1 mile around and cools off to 11 million degrees. 4 miles away from the blast of 1 MT Bomb, pressure is 6 pounds per square inch (It may b

Securing the Siliguri Corridor or Chickens Neck in West Bengal

What is Happening Where is it Since the past few weeks, a lot has been said about the Doklam plateau standoff between India and China. Bhutan's PM recently made a statement in Germany that China is a party to the Doklam Plateau. Doklam plateau where Indian and Chinese forces had a major skirmish in 2017 that lasted for over 2 months; is a critical land mass that faces the critical tri-junction of Bhutan, India, and China-occupied Tibet. It is being said Bhutan may have agreed to hand over the Doklam Plateau in return for China giving up a claim in the area north of Bhutan. So why is the plateau so important to India when it is actually a territory controlled, and administered by Bhutan. Many things are being said about the standoff that happened in 2017 with most placing the area right at end of the funnel (above pic) when in reality Doklam plateau is on the right, a little above the hump. Why China wants it China wa

All the Fuss About Extended Range Brahmos Missile

Image
We all know that  Brahmo 1  has a range of 300 km (298 km actually). The range was restricted in accordance with MTCR regulations, as when the missile was developed and tested India was npot a part of MTCR. Jointly developed by India and Russia Brahmos is based on the  Yakhont  missile, whose actual range is 600 km. How the range was capped at under  300 km , simply by filling the propellant fuel tank with less than 50% or less than half only.  After negotiations started for India’s entry into  MTCR  the missiles’ fuel tank was filled up to 75% or 3/4 which allowed its range to be extended to 450 km.  After it was confirmed that India is part of MTCR the Block 3 missiles were built with a full  propellant fuel tank  giving the missile a range of  600 km,  but as customary India understates its missile range at 550 km only.  One needs to understand the range was extended only by filling the propellant fuel tank and not by increasing the leng

7 Sins of China That Affects Tibet, Xinjiang, India, Inner Mongolia, and the World

Image
Since the video of ‘7 Sins of India’ rolled out from china’s news manufacturing unit, I thought I should list out the list of ‘ 7 Sins of China’.   Btw did anyone notice this video was surprisingly posted in the English language and on social media platforms like youtube, and Twitter both of which are supposedly banned in China? Truly speaking there are numerous sins committed by China but I will list out just 7 most infamous ones, and these are: -   1. Tiananmen Square Massacre 1989 – who can forget the brutal crackdown by the Chinese Army on peaceful protests to call for democratic rights and democracy by Chinese students who had converged on Tiananmen Square in Beijing, in 1989. As some students went on hunger strikes even industry workers the so-called pillars of China's strength had come out in their support. In the crackdown that followed over 2000 people were killed as per conservative estimates along with several dozen soldiers and policemen. Can the Chinese governm
